£12.25 – £14.00 per hour (depending on experience)

The Role

We are looking for a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic Secretary to join our Medical Secretary team.

The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to provide general secretarial support to the doctors and will involve word-processing and audio-typing along with coding of diagnosis, procedures and results.

The Surgery

We are a large practice with 14,500 patients and 7 GP Partners. We have a strong multi-disciplinary clinical team and large experienced administration team. Our main site at Holt is a modern, airy, purpose-built Surgery with a hybrid Pharmacy adjoining it. Although busy, we are a relaxed, welcoming and harmonious Practice.

Main duties include

  • To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, in an accurate manner.
  • Checking for daily dictations
  • Checking Task list for new referrals and those awaiting results or reports
  • Checking workflow and processing incoming letters
  • Checking eRS worklist for rejections and redirections and deal with all related queries from patients and hospitals.
  • To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
  • Liaising with the hospitals and secondary care about patient appointment and test result queries.
  • Dealing with queries raised by Doctors, Practice Manager, and Patients.
  • To maintain patient health records.
  • Filing of clinical correspondence into the clinical system (Emis web)
  • Annotating documents for the clinicians and workflow
  • Coding of diagnosis, procedures and results
  • Administrative task requests by external health care providers (e.g. onward referral, repeat tests, etc)

Experience:

  • Medical Secretary: 1 year (preferred)
